Open Call: Market Theatre Foundation chief financial officer
The Market Theatre Foundation (MTF), one of South Africa’s most esteemed cultural institutions, is inviting applications for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
The application deadline is 22 June 2025.
The CFO will play a pivotal role in steering the organisation’s financial strategy, ensuring compliance with key regulations, and maintaining robust financial governance to support MTF’s long-term sustainability.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and all relevant legislation.
- Oversee financial policies, internal controls, and operational procedures.
- Lead and implement a long-term financial strategy aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
- Manage audit processes, risk management, and financial governance structures.
Minimum requirements:
- A qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 8).
- At least 10 years of experience in financial management, ideally in the public sector or a cultural institution.
- A minimum of 5 years in senior management.
- Extensive knowledge of PFMA, GRAP, and other applicable financial regulations.
- Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
