Bio
Afro-Jazz Singer | Songwriter | Storyteller of Resilience | 10 yrs a Musician
Mwendamberi is not just a name - it’s a prophecy. Meaning “the one who keeps going,” the name captures the heart of a musician who rose from the streets to international stages through sheer determination, divine grace, and the healing power of music.
From a childhood marked by hardship - including time as a street kid - to stages across Europe and China, his journey is a powerful story of resilience and redemption.
Born Godfrey Chirau in Kwekwe, Zimbabwe, Mwendamberi released his debut album Key Yangu in 2012. Blending traditional rhythms with acoustic soul and contemporary Afro sounds, his music uplifts, educates, and connects.
Mwendamberi – not just music, but a message in motion.
With tours across Europe and China, and a highlight performance at the Afrika Dag Festival in the Netherlands in 2023 - where he moved an audience of over 112,000 - Mwendamberi is steadily becoming a global voice from Zimbabwe.
More than a singer, Mwendamberi is a vessel of hope, a living reminder that music can be the bridge between brokenness and breakthrough.
