Swae Lee added to star-studded Ascots Durban July line-up
Following the withdrawal of DJ Mustard due to unforeseen circumstances, American rapper and singer Swae Lee has been added to the headline line-up for The Ascots Experience at the Hollywoodbets Durban July, joining previously announced acts Bryson Tiller and Masego.

The final international line-up for the event was unveiled on 14 May 2026 during a media luncheon hosted by Aline Media Group at Mila Modern Greek in Sandton. The boutique festival is scheduled to take place on 4 July on the southern lawns of Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse in Durban.
The announcement also provided greater insight into Aline Media Group’s broader ambitions for The Ascots Experience and its role within the Durban July weekend.
Addressing media guests during the event, Aline Media Group founder and CEO Sibo Mhlungu spoke about his vision of creating an internationally competitive entertainment experience within South Africa.
"I don't wanna wait to go see someone at Coachella," Mhlungu said. "I wanna bring Coachella back home."
He added: "We are doing what I consider the greatest opportunity for us to showcase African exceptionalism on the world stage in our own backyard."
Following the event, Mhlungu reiterated the organisation's commitment to its long-term vision despite changes to the original line-up.
"While there have been changes to the originally announced line-up, we are excited about the direction The Ascots continues to take and are proud to welcome global superstar Swae Lee, alongside South African music icon Cassper Nyovest, to this year's experience," he said.
"We are incredibly excited to bring Bryson Tiller and Masego to Durban for the very first time, while also showcasing some of the continent's most exciting talent, including Tresor, Shekhinah and Elaine. The Ascots is about creating a globally competitive experience rooted in music, culture, luxury and hospitality, and we believe this line-up reflects that vision."
The event will feature three Grammy-nominated international acts alongside a local line-up that includes Cassper Nyovest, Tresor, Elaine and Shekhinah. Music curation will also include Brian Henry, Akio and Durban-born Asvnte.
Friendship takes centre stage
One of the more personal moments of the luncheon came when Tresor spoke about his relationship with Mhlungu and his connection to Durban.
"I'm really excited for the show because I also love Durban very dearly," Tresor said. "I spent many years in Durban. I started my life in Durban on the street and worked my way up."
Mhlungu immediately responded by reflecting on Tresor's journey.
"Literally," he said. "Tresor worked from the bottom right to the top. We know, we were there. Tresor started playing guitar, busking on the street. He was a car guard. He did everything he had to, this guy did it."
The exchange drew applause from those attending the luncheon, highlighting a friendship built over years and a shared understanding of the challenges that shaped their respective journeys.
Tresor concluded: "It's gonna be a phenomenal show."
Tickets and hospitality packages
The event also introduced a new ticket category, The Gardens, priced at R2 750, offering access to the full entertainment programme within a premium festival setting.
Additional hospitality packages include The Ascot Terraces Private Lounge, priced at R100 000 for a table of ten, and the Owners Sky Club package at R150 000 for a table of ten.
With an expanded international line-up and a blend of music, fashion and hospitality experiences, The Ascots Experience is positioning itself as one of the notable attractions of the 2026 Durban July weekend calendar.
