SA: NEMISA hosts student showcase, alumni reunion in Joburg
The National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) hosted its Student Showcase and Alumni Reunion in Auckland Park on 6 February 2026, bringing together students, alumni, and industry guests to highlight creative work and emerging talent.
The event provided attendees with an opportunity to engage with projects from both current students and alumni.
NEMISA, an accredited educational institution in Gauteng, trains students in areas including 2D animation, radio production, graphic design, and film production. The event provided attendees with an opportunity to engage with projects from both current students and alumni.
Guests visited workstations representing different fields of study, where they observed presentations and demonstrations followed by question-and-answer sessions. Highlights included a SAFTA-nominated short documentary directed by a NEMISA alumnus, 2D animated short films created by students, graphic design portfolios, and a simulated radio show.
Moleboheng Monareng, a NEMISA lecturer, said the event focused on “employment, recognition, and making sure that the people here understand what NEMISA is about and the courses that we offer.”
Victoria Tau from the marketing and communications department added that the showcase also aimed for “our alumni, who are already in the industry, to come through and motivate the ones that are finishing, so that they are able to go out there into the industry.”
The showcase underlined the role of institutions such as NEMISA in preparing the next generation of professionals for South Africa’s media and creative industries.
