Eight months after unveiling his ambitious plan at ACCES 2024, Nasty C has officially launched Tall Racks Records, described as the next-level record label experience for independent artists and their fans.

The platform is designed to give artists more control over how they release music and manage their careers. According to Nasty C, the aim is to help musicians move away from traditional record label structures and become more self-reliant.
In a post on social media, Nasty C said: “The platform was created to help artists break free from the traditional way of the music business and take full control of their independence.”
Speaking to Music In Africa, Nasty C said “the traditional model just wasn’t going to work for us as you need the right amount of bandwidth and heavy resources to invest into various artists, but then that requires data which at times isn’t available considering that others are still building.
“With us transitioning into the digital platform route, it will help us identify the next big artist just in time based on stats which would be available in one dashboard. It will also make it easier for us to invest in the ever growing structures of the music industries by simply creating the tools required for artists to grow on an independence scale.”
Tall Racks Records now functions as a toolkit rather than a conventional label. Artists using the platform can manage their own distribution, audience engagement, and finances. One of the key features is that musicians retain full ownership of their music rights, which is uncommon in standard industry contracts.
The platform supports global distribution, allowing artists to release their music across major streaming services. It also offers automated royalty splits through smart contracts, meaning collaborators are paid fairly and promptly. A digital wallet system enables users to withdraw their royalties directly to their bank accounts.
