SA: Classic 1027 radio announces new weekly line-up

The station, which was rescued by The Professional Consortium, a group of media, legal and business management specialists with experience in commercial radio, says it is focusing on an easy-listening approach. Through the new line-up, the station aims to attract a larger, more diverse audience and maximise the station’s reach on FM and digital platforms.

Mike Mills returns to Classic 1027 where he will host the Breakfast Show on weekday mornings. Mills is a veteran broadcaster who spent several years with the station, previously hosting both the Breakfast and Afternoon Drive shows. Mills is followed by accomplished musician and conductor Kutlwano Masote who will host Classic Brunch between 9am and 12pm.

At 12pm, Carolyn Steyn takes over with Classic Lunch. Shireen Hollier will then host the Classic Drive from 3pm until 5.30pm when she will hand over to Classic Business, which will be presented by Michael Avery.

Avery will be followed in the evenings by renowned conductor Richard Cock who will focus specifically on classical music in his show The Full Works. After Cock, it will be time for overnight radio with Classic Nights – a selection of evening music to keep the night owls company.

The weekends have also been given a shake-up. Peter Terry will present the Breakfast Show on Saturdays and Sundays. On Saturdays, he will be followed by Kutlwano Masote and on Sundays by Shireen Hollier. Deano Maduramuthu will then take over on both Saturdays and Sundays. He is followed by Carolyn Steyn’s Weekend Wind-Down on Saturdays and by Richard Cock’s People of Note on Sunday evenings.

Weekday news shifts will see Deano Maduramuthu doing the morning news and traffic from 6am to 12am and Anne Williams doing the afternoon news and traffic between 12.30pm and 6pm.
