Listen to SA promo song for Bulletproof series
A South African rendition of Inner Circle's ‘Bad Boys' will accompany all promo material associated with UK cop TV series Bulletproof.
‘Bad Boys (Bulletproof Mix)’ was recorded by SA reggae band Zionruts Family and rapper ByLwansta at Audio Militia's studios in Johannesburg. It was released two weeks ago ahead of the series' premiere on Universal TV (DStv channel 117). The series' promotional trailer can be viewed via Facebook.
"'Bad Boys (Bulletproof Mix)’ was commissioned for the on-air marketing campaign accompanying the tag line: London’s Bad Boys'," a statement reads. “The artists were chosen to blend the old and the new, with Zionruts Family bringing a traditional, old-school reggae band to the mix and ByLwansta providing a fresh, hip hop twist. Together they created a localised take on the original track with new lyrics.”
Zionruts Family wrote on Facebook: “As promised already, here it is family, fans and friends the official video clip as it shows. Much love unto Audio Militia respect to one great rapper ByLwansta and everyone who played a part in making this happen.”
Zionruts Family are a roots reggae band formed by core members Rutsman Spice and Ziondawta. The band has released the Kip On Surviving album and shared the stage with such artists as Sizzla and the Lucky Dube Band. Their counterpart, ByLwansta, is a hip hop artist and record producer from Durban. His NORMVL release was nominated in the Mixtape of the Year category at the 2014 South African Hip Awards.
About Bulletproof
Set in London, Bulletproof is an action-packed thrill ride following two cops and best friends Aaron Bishop (Noel Clarke) and Ronnie Pike (Ashley Walters). Bonded by the same moral code – despite their very different backgrounds – Bishop and Pike tackle the bad guys in their own uncompromising style, all while maintaining their friendship, their relationships and taking on ghosts from the past. The series are inspired by action films such as Lethal Weapon and Bad Boys.
