Bongo Maffin to headline Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts
South African kwaito and Afro-pop group Bongo Maffin will headline this year’s Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts (OMiFa) in Zimbabwe. The two-day event will take place on 19 and 20 September, with Zimbabwean musician Jah Prayzah also among the leading performers.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome the iconic sounds of Bongo Maffin to the OMiFa stage,” festival director Samantha Mtukudzi said. “Their music carries a message of unity and social consciousness that resonates across generations. Alongside Jah Prayzah, who has been a big pillar of support for the festival, and our line-up of local talent, this year truly embodies the spirit of international celebration and artistic excellence that OMiFa was founded upon.”
The programme will also feature local acts including Feli Nandi, Tamy Moyo, Jah Signal, Saintfloew, Agga Nyabinde, Hwamanda, Mandava, SaMasamba, Vee Mhofu, Terry Mbofana, Tatenda Mhangami, Munya Nyamarebvu and The Black Spirits with Gary Tight, who was closely associated with Oliver Mtukudzi and his late son, Sam.
Festival creative director Marcus Gora said this year’s edition would again include a Kids Festival, a family-focused programme introduced last year. “This dedicated family-friendly space, featuring activities and performances for younger audiences, is a key investment in the future of the arts and a core part of the festival’s growing vision,” he said.
OMiFa was established to honour the life and legacy of the late Zimbabwean musician. It aims to provide a platform for cultural exchange, artistic development and community celebration.
