MIAF appoints advisory committees for fundraising and risk oversight
The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) has appointed a team of experts to serve on two newly established advisory committees. The committees were created to support the board in discharging its fiduciary duties and will focus on critical areas such as fundraising, membership strategies, human resources and risk management.

The Fundraising and Membership Committee will be chaired by Galen Bresson.
The Fundraising and Membership Committee will be chaired by Galen Bresson (Seychelles), joined by Christine Kamau (Kenya) and Jordan Alston (United States). The committee will concentrate on resource-mobilisation strategies, improving the quality of the Foundation’s membership base, and strengthening partnerships that advance MIAF’s long-term programmes and activities.
The HR & Risk Management Committee is chaired by Marie-Kimberly Tesha Oxide (Mauritius), with Abdi Rashid Jibril (Kenya) and William Chirinda (South Africa) serving as members. The committee is responsible for oversight of human-resource policies and institutional risk mitigation, in line with best-practice governance standards.
Both committees, which serve in an advisory capacity to the board, have been appointed for a two-year term.
Welcoming the new committee members, MIAF board chairperson Marcus Gora said: “We are delighted to welcome this distinguished group of professionals into the MIAF governance structure. Their expertise, regional diversity and deep commitment to the African creative sector will significantly strengthen our ability to deliver on our mandate.”
The committees will work closely with the directorate and report to the MIAF Board, comprising nine members: Marcus Gora (chairperson), Julz Ossom (deputy chairperson), William Chirinda (treasurer), Carolin Christgau, Joachim Gerstmeier, Eddie K Hatitye, Marie-Kimberly Tesha Oxide, Tabu Osusa and Kobby Ankomah Graham.
The Music In Africa Foundation is a pan-African non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the development of the African music sector. Headquartered in Johannesburg, the Foundation provides platforms that enable music professionals to connect, learn, grow and access new opportunities across the continent and beyond. The MIAF is a membership-based organisation and invites individuals and institutions wishing to support its mission to join as members via the membership platform.
