Digital Lab Africa announces 2019 winners
Digital Lab Africa (DLA) released this week a list of 10 winners who applied for the third edition of the organisation's accelerator programme.
Zimbabwe's Marvin Madyara is one of the winners in the Digital Music category.
The DLA programme is intended for artists, producers, designers, start-ups and students in the media and creative industries in sub-Saharan region.
The 10 creatives were drawn from 500 applications from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Senegal and Gabon.
The winners will each receive:
- R42 000 ($2 900) cash prize.
- A tailored incubation programme to accelerate their project development with mentorship by French and sub-Saharan creative industries experts.
- A residence period in France within a digital cluster/hub.
- Participation at industry events in France and/or in the sub-Saharan African region.

- TRVLR – Komborerai Chapfika (Zimbabwe)
Web Creation
- Cartographie des Régions Musicales du Mali – Tiécoura n’daou (Mali)
- Re/member Your Descendants – Xabiso Vili (South Africa)
Video Game
- Mancala Plus – Setriakor Nyomi (Ghana)
- Precious Cargo – Simone Beneke-Graham, Shannon Bennetts, Rowan Brough and Niall Graham (South Africa)
DLA Audience Award
- Baba – Justus Macharia (Kenya)
