Open Call: Theatertreffen International Forum 2024
Theatertreffen in Berlin, Germany, is inviting artists worldwide for its International Forum, an exclusive 18-day scholarship programme from 2 to 20 May 2024.
The open call is open to artists up to approximately 35 years old, encompassing all realms of the performing arts, including music, choreography, video, directing, acting, set and costume design, dramaturgy, text production, media, production management and theatre education.
Application criteria
- Artists up to approximately 35 years old.
- Several years of autonomous professional experience.
- Good or very good English language skills.
- Availability for the entire period of the International Forum
- Active participation in the entire programme is expected.
Programme details
- Attendance at Theatertreffen events.
- Workshops with experienced artists, researchers and experts.
- Exclusive artist talks and events related to Theatertreffen.
- Participation in the discursive programme.
- Networking opportunities with other supporting programmes for emerging artists and journalists.
- Discussions with the festival director and members of the Theatertreffen jury.
- Excursions and attendance at additional performances in Berlin.

Application process
- Different application procedures are based on the main location of work.
- Artists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland may apply directly to Berliner Festspiele.
- Artists outside German-language countries may apply via the Goethe-Institut.
The deadline for application is 7 January 2024.

- Invitations to selected applicants will be issued in late February.
- Festival programme details will be announced in April 2024.
