Sunset Music Series returns to Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden for 2026 season
The Sunset Music Series has returned for its 2026 edition, with a programme of outdoor concerts staged at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Johannesburg.
Lloyiso.
The series opened on 10 May with a performance by Jeremy Loops and will continue with a run of scheduled shows featuring South African artists across the winter season.
Upcoming performances include Lloyiso on 31 May, a joint concert by Matthew Mole and Will Linley on 14 June, and a show featuring Spoegwolf and Francois van Coke on 28 June.
Organisers have confirmed that the 2026 programme will be split into Autumn and Spring editions, with additional artist announcements expected in the coming months.
Damon Forbes of BreakOut Events said the setting forms a key part of the series’ appeal. “There’s something truly special about experiencing live music outdoors with friends surrounded by nature, especially in a setting as iconic as the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden,” he said. “This year we have two seasons - an Autumn and Spring series - and for the Autumn series we’ve curated a set of shows featuring some of South Africa’s top artists. We can’t wait to welcome audiences back for another unforgettable Sunset Music Series.”
The concerts take place between 1p.m. and 5p.m., with gates opening at 1p.m. Attendees are permitted to bring picnic baskets and food, while on-site bars and refreshments will be available. Organisers have stated that no outside beverages are allowed. Camp chairs and picnic blankets are permitted.
Tickets start from R195, excluding booking fees, with organisers reporting strong demand for the 2026 season. Early booking has been advised due to limited availability.
The Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, located in Roodepoort, serves as the venue for all scheduled performances.
