Zim: Amplifaya Festival releases artist line-up
The organisers of Amplifaya Festival in Zimbabwe have released a list of artists who will perform at the inaugural event at Heritage Adventure Park near Rainbow Towers Hotel, Harare, on 3 September.
Launched last week, the festival is organised by online media company earGROUND and Gateway Stream Music. It seeks to promote new voices and diversity as well as create a safe space for young consumers of entertainment.
“Our selection criteria was mainly informed by the need to amplify amazing artists that have been putting out exceptional pieces of work but still haven’t managed to get enough support to breakthrough and realise their fullest potential,” earGROUND founder and chief curator Plot Mhako told Music In Africa. “These amazing emerging voices spread across regions and genres have what it takes to put the country on the global map. Most of these artists are already leading in disrupting the sound and musical tastes and are bursting at seams waiting to blow up.”
Mhako said the line-up was designed to give new voices support and that they “have added a few established artists to the line-up to make it firm and diverse. We are targeting young audiences and youthful consumers who are already connecting to most of the artists.”
