Produced by Origi and Tboiii, the track draws on Afrobeats, Afroswing and R&B influences. It follows renewed interest in Sona’s work from listeners calling for what some have described as a revival of UK Afrobeats.
The single incorporates synths, percussion and melodic toplines, with Sona describing it as a reflection on loyalty and personal connections. “This one comes from a real place. It’s about standing by the people you love through everything,” he said. “I wanted to make something that connects emotionally but still makes you move. The song came about from going through everyday life struggles and understanding how important it is to be there for your loved ones, whether it be friendships or a relationship.”
Established presence in UK Afrobeats
Sona has been a fixture in the UK Afrobeats scene for more than a decade, known for tracks such as ‘Ijo Sona’, ‘No Wahala’, ‘Feeling You’ and ‘Ginger’. His releases have drawn support from outlets including Complex, BBC 1Xtra, MTV Base, Earmilk, Capital Xtra and the MOBO Awards.
His catalogue includes collaborations with artists such as Sneakbo and producers including GRAMMY-nominated ATG Musick. Several of his previous songs have accumulated millions of streams globally.
The release of ‘Dey 4 You’ comes as Sona prepares new material for 2026, following strong audience interest after his recent live shows and social media appearances. According to his team, the single marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
Sona’s forthcoming work is expected to continue exploring his blend of Afrobeats and R&B, anchored in themes of everyday experiences and interpersonal relationships.
