Even before its official release, ‘Bombshell’ has generated immense buzz, with teasers racking up more than 90 million views across social platforms.
Directed by Brian Salcedo and William Miller, the music video—shot on location in South Africa—delivers a striking visual punch, combining raw energy, fashion-forward aesthetics, and themes of liberation and rebellion. It marks a defining moment for Skyla Tylaa, signalling her arrival as a multi-faceted artist ready to dominate global airwaves.
At 24, Skyla Tylaa is fast becoming one of the UK’s most exciting new talents. Known for her high-energy DJ sets that blend amapiano with Afro-electronic influences, she has carved out a niche that reflects both her heritage and creative upbringing. Raised in South East London between Kennington and Vauxhall, Skyla draws from a rich cultural background rooted in Jamaican and English traditions. Her childhood was steeped in music, funky house, UK garage, reggae, and R&B provided the soundtrack to family life.
A former student of the BRIT School and Sylvia Young Theatre School, Skyla showed early promise as a performer, even appearing in a West End production of Annie. A trip to Ghana proved pivotal; while visiting Wizkid’s recording studio, she was introduced to the amapiano sound that would reshape her artistic direction. Mentored by industry figures such as DJ Tunez, Maphorisa, Uncle Vinny, and Major League DJz, Skyla soon found herself immersed in the genre’s creative ecosystem.
Her breakthrough came in 2023, when she opened for Wizkid’s Made in Lagos tour, a high-pressure debut that earned her critical recognition. Since then, her rise has been rapid. Skyla has performed across the UK, US, Europe, Africa, and Australia, gracing stages at Afronation, Wireless, Piano People, and Australia’s Promiseland Festival. She has also headlined sold-out shows in London, Nigeria, and Ghana.
