Major League Djz

Major League is a South African twin brother deejay band made up of Bandile and Banele Mbere. One brother is a deejay and the other is a percussionist. They focus on dance and urban music.

This twin set are a dynamic duo bringing fresh energy to every platform they engage with.

Born in Boston, US, the twins moved to South Africa after the apartheid era. Their move to South Africa came with the exposure to music at a very young age. Major League DJz were highly influenced by the sounds of jazz and hip-hop music which still play a very instrumental role in their music delivery today. Their love for music ushered Major League DJz into the entertainment industry in their early teens. Very early in their careers, the twins hosted parties for the likes of 50 Cent, Akon and Fat Joe, and have gone on to play alongside both local and international DJ's such as DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Roger Goode, DJ Trauma, DJ Drama and DJ Woo Kid. Major League DJz can be spotted at all the hottest eventsand parties across South Africa and have been on the opening line ups for international artists such as Kanye West and Kid Cudi.

Young, talented and good looking, Major League DJztruly are the full package. Former official DJs for Khuli Chana and Soul Candi event organisers, the twins have gone on to solidify a wider national footprint with their weekly mixes onuKhozi FM and Mafikeng FM. Asnew ambassadors for the McDonald’s Street Rhythm campaign to top it all, Major League DJz are now at the forefront of the youth market.

Major League DJz’s vision is to use music to unify youth across Africa. They aspire to play music for Africa by Africans in an attempt to change the perception of African Hip Hop. The twins are well on their way to achieving this goal through their Urban Breeze events which currently occur weekly in the townships surrounding Johannesburg and Pretoria and have built up a staunch Hip Hop following in an otherwise House music dominated territory, which is a great feat for Hip Hop in SA and a clear indication that Hip Hop is fast become the new mainstream.
