eSwatini: Luju Festival expands into two-day culture event
The Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival, one of Southern Africa’s premier events featuring live music, food and fashion events, will expand to a full two-day format for its eighth edition, scheduled for 1 and 2 August 2026 at House On Fire in Malkerns, eSwatini.

The festival, which has grown into a major cultural tourism destination, drew over 10 000 attendees from 26 countries in 2025. The extended format aims to provide a more immersive experience, combining culinary demonstrations, premium wine and whiskey showcases, a regional fashion runway, and a vibrant Pan-African music line-up.
Organisers said the two-day schedule allows festival-goers to engage more deeply with the event’s offerings. Attendees will also have the opportunity to showcase cultural pride and creativity through fashion, wearing two distinct outfits across the weekend.
The festival continues to support the local creative economy. In 2025, 103 small and medium enterprises (SMEs), 85% of which were from eSwatini, generated over E2.5 million (about $149 000) in sales. The extended format is expected to increase foot traffic, trading hours, and economic impact for artisans, entrepreneurs, and local businesses participating in the event.
“The Luju Festival remains committed to developing the creative economy, promoting sustainability, and unlocking opportunities for small businesses,” the organisers said. “This expansion reflects the festival’s growing regional appeal and its role as a vibrant platform for African food, fashion and culture.”
Guided by the philosophy “A Return to the African Future,” the festival seeks to celebrate African heritage while fostering innovation. It invites attendees, partners, and sponsors to engage with Africa’s cultural richness through its food, music, and fashion experiences.
Tickets, accommodation, and travel package details will be announced in due course. Updates are available via the festival’s social media channels and official website.
