The first 50 applicants will be considered by a jury comprising reputable music industry professionals such as Josh Georgio (Hugh Masekela Foundation), Andrew Poane (Bassline), Jerome Galabert (Sakifo Musik Festival, Reunion Island) and representatives from IFAS and Kaya FM. “This time of lockdown has shown us how essential arts and culture are to bring joy to our daily lives and help us reflect on the world that surrounds us,” IFAS cultural attaché Selen Daver said. “Through this event, we are committed to offering exposure to a new generation of musicians, as well as supporting the music industry that has been severely struck by the pandemic and the cancellation of live events.”
Total South Africa corporate affairs manager, Nne-Mpho Siaga said: “As a business, Total South Africa is known to take the road less travelled, forging our own path as a business, and as a partner for growth in South Africa, often exploring newer, better ways to do business and to participate in the country’s evolving socio-economic landscape. Arts and culture are key to creating social cohesion and national pride, and it is crucial that business supports the building of nations, especially as citizens of a greater global village.”
