Zoë Modiga

Bio

Jazz vocalist Zoë Modiga was born in Pietermaritzburg, Durban. She moved to Johannesburg to attend the National School of the Arts and pursued her studies in jazz at the University of Cape Town from 2012 to 2014. This young singer-songwriter performs regularly at South African jazz festivals including Joy of Jazz and the Cape Town International Jazz festival.

She recorded with The Kiffness and the Frank Paco Art Ensemble and was part of Breakfast Included and shared the stages with the likes of Lira, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Louis Maholo, Gloria Bosman, Matthew Gold, Mark Fransman, Sibusiso Dlamini, Marcus Wyatt, Benjamin Jephta, Tshepo Tsotetsi.

Zoë won the 2015 SAMRO Overseas Scholarship Competition. In 2016, Modiga became a household name as one of the popular contestants in the first season of The Voice SA. She recently launched her double album Yellow – The Novel.
