Nigeria: Patoranking drops new single ‘Shake That’ ft Ruger
Nigerian singer and songwriter Patoranking has released a new single, ‘Shake That’, featuring fellow Nigerian artist Ruger.
Patoranking.
The track follows the release of ‘African Soldier’, Patoranking's collaboration with Jamaican dancehall artist Buju Banton, which was released earlier this year. The new single is expected to feature on Patoranking's forthcoming fifth studio album.
Produced by Yungwillis and Dwillsharmony, ‘Shake That’ blends Afrobeats and dancehall influences, with lyrics centred on attraction, confidence and dancefloor culture. The song pairs Patoranking's melodic style with Ruger's contribution in what marks a collaboration between two prominent figures in contemporary African music.
A music video directed by filmmaker Dammy Twitch has also been released alongside the single.
Speaking about the new release, Patoranking said the song was intended to capture a lighter mood following the themes explored in ‘African Soldier’.
“After ‘African Soldier’, I wanted to give my fans something for the summer. ‘Shake That’ is that energy. Ruger brought the vibes and it was nice linking with Ikel Marvelous again, he did the ‘Suh Different’ intro, and he’s on the intro on this too,” he said.
“Yeah man, I’m excited about this one. This summer we are dancing, I'm back on the road again, I'll be in the UK and across Europe this summer, yeah catch me and the band, we outside.”
The release comes shortly after the announcement of Patoranking's Fire 2026 European tour. The tour is scheduled to include performances in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, with additional dates expected to be announced.
Patoranking, who emerged from Lagos' music scene, has built an international profile through a catalogue that blends Afrobeats, reggae and dancehall. His best-known songs include ‘My Woman My Everything’ and ‘Alubarika’, while his collaborations have featured artists such as Major Lazer, Popcaan and Bryson Tiller.
In addition to his music career, Patoranking is involved in philanthropic initiatives through the Patoranking Foundation and serves as a Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Africa with the United Nations Development Programme.
‘Shake That’ is available on digital streaming platforms.
