Call for applications: Revenue Streams for African Musicians workshop in Durban
As part of the Revenue Streams for African Musicians (RSFAM) project, the Music In Africa Foundation, in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal United Music Industry Association (KUMISA), is inviting all practising musicians based in KwaZulu-Natal to attend a one-day workshop at the Southern Sun Elangeni and Maharani Hotel on 11 March 2022.
- The workshop will take place at the Southern Sun Elangeni and Maharani Hotel in Durban on 11 March.
Launched in 2021, the RSFAM project is a multifaceted initiative aiming to empower South African music professionals with information and tools to earn more income from their works. The project mobilised field researchers in all nine provinces to conduct interviews with nearly 3 000 musicians. Industry insights will be made available in an open-access report, and workshops will be hosted across the country.
Music industry experts will provide training in the key focus areas identified in the study:
- Understanding music rights and optimising earnings from royalties.
- Brand-related revenue: Maximising your income through digital platforms.
The workshop is free of charge but is limited to 50 seats.
Register now by filling out this form. An information pack will be communicated to selected participants.
The registration deadline is 7 March 2022.
Not based in Durban? Workshops will also be held in Johannesburg and Polokwane. Please visit our website and social media pages to register for a workshop in your city.
Please direct all queries to projects officer Ms Jannike Bergh at jannike@musicinafrica.net.
