Call for applications: Arts residency in New Zealand

The residency should last a period of one to three months. An integral part of the programme is local community engagement and collaboration.

Residents will be expected to engage in the following activities:

• Performance
• Exhibition
• Reading
• Workshops

The application deadline is 31 March and successful applicants will be contacted within one week of applying.

Creatives in the following fields can apply:

• Music
• Visual arts and crafts
• Theatre
• Dance
• Film
• Writing
• Design
• Photography
• Digital and sound art
• Fashion
• Gaming

Requirements

Applications should be sent to creativeresidencies@artscentre.org.nz along with the following:

• 100- to 120-word letter of motivation.
• A CV (three pages max).
• Five images or media files documenting past creative work.
• Five available links to recordings, reviews, articles and/or material published online.
• Preferred residency dates (please note residencies are not offered from January to March in 2020 or 2021)

The Arts Centre will provide the following to the selected residents:

• A per diem of $85 per day, paid weekly.
• Up to $1 500 towards travel costs to and from Christchurch.
• Links, contacts and advice about the local arts and creative industries community.
• Advice and support with orientation and realising projects onsite.
• A fully furnished room with a work desk and a private bathroom. Living spaces are shared with other residents.
• Access to WiFi. 
• Studio space may be provided depending on availability and requirements.
• Publicity informing the local community of the residency.
