TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION

Airport & Arrival

For ACCES 2025 in the City of Tshwane, the most convenient airport is Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), which serves as the main gateway for international arrivals. From there, delegates can take a 45-minute transfer to Tshwane. Uber and Bolt ride-hailing services are readily available from the airport, with fares to Tshwane typically ranging from USD 25 – 45, depending on the time of day and vehicle type.

Partner Hotels

We recommend delegates to stay at our partner hotels. Partner hotels offer pre-negotiated ACCES rates and will also have conference shuttles (from hotel to official ACCES venues in the mornings and evenings). We have secured two hotel options for our delegates.

VISA GUIDELINES

Always check the latest requirements before booking travel—visa policy and procedures can change. Visit the official Department of Home Affairs site and your nearest South African diplomatic mission website for current application forms, fees, and instructions.

1. Visa requirements

If your country is not on South Africa’s visa‑exempt list, you'll need a Visitor’s Visa (often valid for up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes).

2. Required documents

According to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) and embassy guidance:

- Passport ≥ 30 days valid past departure + 2 blank pages
- Visa application form (BI‑84) signed, black ink
- Photos: 2 × passport-size (white background)
- Financial proof: bank statements, etc. (typically last three months)
- Travel itinerary: return/onward ticket evidence
- Accommodation / invitation: hotel booking or host letter
- Yellow fever vaccine If arriving via endemic region

Please note: the DHA e-Visa portal may request a police clearance certificate and stamped bank statements, but these are generally not standard for a short-term visitor visa and may vary.

3. Where to apply

  • Submit your application in person at a South African embassy, consulate, or visa‑application centre (VAC) in your country of residence.
  • Alternatively, you can apply online through the DHA e‑Visa portal (https://ehome.dha.gov.za) if your nationality is eligible—but note there are frequent reports of delays or portal issues. VFS Global often handles physical submissions efficiently via VACs.

4. Processing times and fees

  • Processing time is typically around 5–10 working days for embassy or VFS applications, though delays up to several weeks can happen.
  • Standard visa fee is approximately R 425 (USD 24), but may vary by nationality or VAC service costs like those charged by VFS Global.

5. Where to get official information

  • Department of Home Affairs (DHA) website: official source for forms, visa categories, and policy updates Department of Home Affairs.
  • South African embassy or consulate in your country: site for local requirements, fees, and booking appointments.

VFS Global official site if VAC is used in your region—lists document checklists, fees, and processing instructions.

HEALTH & RECOMMENDED VACCINATIONS

To enter South Africa, you must have a certificate to prove you’ve had a yellow fever vaccination if you’re coming from a country listed as a transmission risk

While no other vaccinations are currently required for most international travelers to enter South Africa, it is strongly recommended to consult with a healthcare professional or travel clinic to determine which vaccines are necessary or advisable based on your individual travel plans, health history, and itinerary.
