Zee Nxumalo featured on Times Square billboard, GQ South Africa cover
South African singer Zee Nxumalo has reached two significant career milestones following the release of her latest EP, Izinja Zam Vol. I, with her image appearing on a billboard in New York City's Times Square and on the cover of GQ South Africa.

The developments come amid increased attention surrounding the artist’s new project, which was released recently and has contributed to growth in her streaming figures. The EP marks a departure from some of her earlier work, incorporating more introspective themes and personal storytelling.
At 23, Zee Nxumalo has emerged as one of South Africa's leading music acts in recent years. Her latest achievements follow a period in which she was recognised as the country's most-streamed female artist and has continued to expand her audience both locally and internationally.
“This moment is honestly bigger than me,” Zee Nxumalo said. “To see my face in Times Square and then to open my phone and see the love for the GQ cover at the same time is crazy. I’ve always believed that dreams are valid no matter where you come from. Everything that’s happening right now is proof that South African artists can dream as big as anybody in the world. I’m grateful, I’m hungry and I feel like we’re only getting started.”
The singer is also preparing for her first Australian tour later this year and is scheduled to perform at the upcoming edition of the music festival Afro Nation Portugal.
Her co-manager, Shingai Darangwa, founder of Punchline Projects, said the recent milestones reflected years of work behind the scenes.
“Artists don’t accidentally arrive at moments like this. Zee has spent years building a catalogue, building a fanbase and building a movement,” Darangwa said.
“What we’re seeing now is the result of consistency, belief and an artist who refuses to put limits on how far she can go. The Times Square billboard, the GQ cover and the international touring opportunities are not destination points. They’re confirmation that the vision is working.”
Wandile Madondo, founder and principal of TGTM and Zee Nxumalo's musical director, said the response to the EP had reinforced confidence in the direction of her career.
“The reception to Izinja Zam Vol. I has been incredibly affirming because it validated exactly what we felt while creating the project,” Madondo said.
“More than the numbers, it’s been encouraging to see audiences connect with the music in a meaningful way.”
“Zee is entering a new phase of her artistry. The music is becoming more intentional, the storytelling is becoming more layered, and her confidence as a creative is growing with every release,” he said.
“The billboard, the GQ cover and the international opportunities are incredible milestones, but they’re not the destination. They’re indicators of momentum.”
The latest developments add to a growing list of international opportunities for the singer as she continues to build her profile beyond South Africa. With festival appearances, overseas touring plans and increasing global visibility, Zee Nxumalo's career continues to gain momentum on the international stage.
