Kenya: Otile Brown releases debut album
Kenyan singer Otile Brown released his debut album exclusively on Boomplay on 4 June.
Just in Love is a 10-track album that features collaborations with local stars Mejja and Khaligraph Jones. He also features Juma Jux (Tanzania), Meddy (Rwanda) and Kidum (Burundi).
The theme of the album centres on "love and the relationship between men and women, while drawing inspiration from a variety of different musical genres, from R&B to Afropop," Otile Brown said.
The singer has high hopes for the album and says it will be one of 2020's big Kenyan releases.
"My fans should be prepared for a musical feast for the senses. Expect nothing but flames. I believe in this album and I'll be able to win over new fans because the vibes are different from what many are used to."
Notable tracks in the album include 'Regina, 'Hit and Run', 'Leila', and reggae-infused 'Umedamshi', among others.
Since 2015, Otile Brown has delivered a series of hits such as 'Baby Love', 'Mapenzi Hisia', 'Aiyana' and 'Chaguo La Moyo', which featured singer Sanaipei Tande and has so far garnered more than 20 million views on YouTube.
In recognition of his work, the singer has received nominations at the Pulse Music Awards, the MVP Soundcity Awards and the HiPipo Music Awards. Recently, he was named by Billboard as the most-watched Kenyan artist on YouTube.
