Call for registrations: WSDG studio design webinars
Acoustic consultancy firm Walters-Storyk Design Group (WSDG) will host three upcoming webinars on recording studio design.
The series will focus on acoustic architecture and building a studio from the ground up, among others. Two instalments of the series will be hosted by renowned designer and acoustician John Storyk, who worked on Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios.
In the first webinar, titled Lessons from Electric Lady and Beyond: Past, Present and Future of Recording Studio Design, Storyk will provide an in-depth account of the unique design goals and challenges that came with designing the esteemed studio. He will also discuss the modern advancements in recording studio design.
Delivered by industry veteran Sergio Molho, the second instalment, titled From Dreams to Reality: Designing a Personal Recording Studio, will delve into building a recording studio and address the design and implementation cycle of a project studio. Molho is responsible for the installation of the first IMAX 3D theatre in Latin America. Aspects that will be discussed include the early planning stages of a studio, project management, construction, acoustics and aesthetics with real-world examples.
Storyk will return to host the final webinar of the series called Adventures at the Low End: Low Frequency Behavior in Studio Listening Rooms. The webinar will discuss low frequencies in acoustics by placing an emphasis on predicting acoustic signatures in irregularly shaped spaces. The session will draw from WSDG-developed tools and methods that were designed to optimise low frequency control regardless of an environment’s size, shape or appearance.
