Call for entries: Headies Mic Check competition in Nigeria

The contest forms part of activities designed around the annual Headies awards, and seeks to offer a platform to launch Nigeria’s next breakout star.

Last year, rapper Zez was named the winner of the maiden edition of the competition, taking home ₦5 million ($6 500), a brand-new car, and a one-year music licence deal. 

How to enter

To participate, interested musicians must:

1. Upload a video of themselves singing their favourite song on social media.
2. Use the hashtag: #HeadiesMicCheck2
3. Visit the competition’s website and share the social media link to the video.

Entry closes on 4 July.

Meanwhile, submissions for the 2023 Headies closed on 16 June. The scheme will reward musical works released between January 2022 and March 2023.
