Call for entries: ANIFILM competition in Czech Republic 2020
The International Festival of Animated Films (ANIFILM) is calling on filmmakers, animators and computer games developers around the world to submit music videos, animated films, abstract videos and computer games for the 2020 edition of the event in Třeboň, Czech Republic, from 5 to 10 May.
To be part of the festival, interested individuals should submit their work by registering their films here for free. If you have not submitted any work before, your first step will be registration.
Participants can send their work in form of a link via we transfer, email at shipping@anifilm.cz or by post (USB, hard drive, 35 mm print). For the address please write to: shipping@anifilm.cz.
The submission deadline is 5 January. The organisers will accept work that was made after 1 January 2019.
Submissions selected for the competition will be assessed by the festival selection committee. Each participant who submitted a film or game is subsequently informed about the result.
The ANIFILM competition programme comprise the following categories:
- International Competition of Music Videos: Competition of commissioned works as well as fan-made videos for concrete songs. Author of the video must have approval for using the musical piece.
- International Competition of Feature Films: A feature film is a film longer than 60 minutes. Jury gives awards to film for children and film for grown-ups.
- International Competition of Short Films: This competition section presents several blocks of animated short films made by professionals (out of schools). A short film is a film which is not longer than 50 minutes.
- International Competition of Student Films: The films can be submitted to the competition via the online application form by schools or students themselves.
- International Competition of Abstract and Non-narrative Animation: Unconfined audio-visual works using the principles of animation in the widest extent possible.
- International Competition of VR Films: Films designed for virtual reality.
- International Competition of Independent Computer Games: Jury gives awards for games for children and visual art.
Prizes
The jurors give out the following awards:
- Best Music Video – 500 EUR ($550)
- Best Feature Film – 1000 EUR
- Best Feature Film for Children – 1000 EUR
- Best Short Film – 1000 EUR
- Best Student Film – 1000 EUR
- Best Abstract/Non-narrative Animation – 500 EUR
Rules
- All films in the competition are screened in their original language and must be provided with English subtitles by the party submitting the film (with the exception of music videos).
- Costs of the transportation of the film prints and promotion materials from the country of origin to the post office in Prague and the costs of travel insurance are covered by the participant, if not arranged otherwise.
- The costs of insurance against loss and partial damage or complete destruction of the film print for the period starting on the day when the festival receives the film print and ending when the festival hands the film print over to the carrier are covered by the festival.
- In case of loss or destruction of the film print during the festival, the festival is responsible only for the costs involved in making a new print based on the current laboratory rates for ordering a standard print.
- All complaints concerning the technical condition of the returned film print must be registered with the festival within one month after receiving the film print.
- Director, producer or the world sales company cannot withdraw the film from the festival once its screening has been officially confirmed.
