Adunia

Adunia is a singer, songwriter, and performer with a distinctive voice in the Israeli music scene, blending African groove with Middle Eastern colors and refined contemporary production. Her music moves between warm, infectious rhythms and emotional depth, carried by a powerful vocal presence that gives each song resonance and meaning.

Born in the small town of Chanchu, Ethiopia, Adunia immigrated to Israel with her family as part of Operation Solomon. She grew up at the Kadoorie Youth Village, and this personal journey deeply embedded in her artistic voice. Her Ethiopian roots are naturally woven into rhythm, melody, and groove, shaping a vivid and emotional musical world that invites listeners into her story.

Drawing from a wide range of influences from traditional Ethiopian music to jazz and hip hop, Adunia creates a musical language that is both accessible and distinctive. Her songwriting moves fluidly between humor and introspection, combining pop sensibilities with unconventional meters and scales in a constant interplay of light and shadow. Her voice bridges spoken like textures with authentic Ethiopian tonalities, forming a clear and recognizable artistic signature.

After serving as a lead vocalist in the IDF Central Command Band, Adunia began performing and collaborating with leading artists such as Yossi Fine, Gili Yalo, and Ben Aylon. These collaborations helped shape her identity as a compelling stage performer, blending Middle Eastern vocal ornamentation with subtle melancholy and an underlying sense of groove and joy.

A turning point in her artistic development came when singer, songwriter Alma Zohar recognized her creative potential and encouraged her to explore personal songwriting. Their meeting at a songwriting workshop at Ono Academic College opened a new chapter in Adunia’s work, leading her toward a more intimate and expressive artistic voice. Since then, she has continued to refine her musical language, inspired by artists such as Victoria Hanna, Riff Cohen, and Dikla.

In recent years, Adunia released the singles “Noshmet,” “Hu Lo Ba,” and “Ba Li,” offering a first glimpse into her upcoming debut album, currently in production. She has performed extensively in Israel and internationally at festivals, cultural events, and Jewish communities around the world.

Adunia’s music reflects an ongoing journey, between cultures, identities, and sounds. Through a rich and evolving sonic language, she tells a deeply personal story while reaching toward something universal.
