Christian Kibamba – Burundian Drummer & Musician

Christian Kibamba is a Burundian-born drummer and musician who has established a remarkable career in Kenya, where he has been based for several years as both a session and live performer.

His musical journey began at the age of seven, experimenting with drums and homemade instruments around the house. What started as a childhood curiosity evolved into a professional pursuit that has seen him become one of East Africa’s most respected drummers.

In 2018, Kibamba was named “Instrumentalist of the Year” at the Café Ngoma Awards in Kenya — a recognition of his exceptional musicianship and influence within the region’s live music scene. In 2021, he received an international nod with a nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards, underscoring his growing global footprint.

Over the years, Christian has collaborated with numerous renowned artists, including Fena Gitu, Kato Change, Bien, Savara, Fancy Fingers, Chimano, Tovohery Andrianarisoa Radanz, and June Gachui, as well as international acts from Nigeria, Cameroon, Israel, Senegal, and the United States.
