Zim: Listen to Nitefreak’s Bolingo Nanga remix
Zimbabwean Afro-house producer Nitefreak last week released a remix of ‘Bolingo Nanga’, a track by New York-based DJ and producer Francis Mercier.

The song was released on Abracadabra Records in the US and is available for streaming on all major digital platforms. French artist DJ Nico de Andrea also did a remix of ‘Bolingo Nanga’ featuring DRC vocalist Bibi Den's Tshibayi. The record showcases the similarity in music cultures from different countries.
“The vocals just lit that creative bulb and I heard my own version of the song playing in my mind,” Nitefreak told Music In Africa. “Plus, it was a humbling experience when I found out more about the man behind the vocals – I just had to.
“Like most of the remixes I do, I let the vocal set the mood and tone. Everything was built around it from percussion to the melodies. Of course, it would not be a complete Nitefreak song without an emotional bridge.
DJ Nico de Andrea said: “When Francis Mercier showed me ‘Bolingo Nanga’, I fell immediately in love with the vocals and the guitar riff. These are actually the only elements I kept for my remix. I’ve tried to bring it something more powerful for the club and still really emotional ‘cause it’s the main signature of my musical project.”
He added: “I made the remix really fast in only one day. I was really inspired by the energy and the climate of the song. I started to play some new chords, created a new darker bassline and kept the main guitar theme for a second drop for a pure moment of emotion at the end. I’m really proud and excited about this release. One of my favourite remixes so far.”
