Zambia: Nakabeya Mountain Fest to debut over independence weekend
The inaugural Nakabeya Mountain Festival will take place from 24 to 25 October in Katoba, about 35 kilometres from Lusaka, coinciding with Zambia’s independence weekend.
- Zambian artist El Mukuka will perform at the festival.
Inspired by Europe’s do-it-yourself outdoor festivals, the two-day event aims to combine music, culture and outdoor adventure in a natural setting. The festival will be held on Nakabeya Mountain, an area known for its scenic views, indigenous trees and the rare Masuku fruit.
Organised by a team of local event and culture curators in partnership with EELF Records, the festival seeks to offer an immersive experience for music and nature enthusiasts. Attendees will be able to camp on-site and take part in a range of activities including guided nature walks, yoga sessions and creative workshops.
The music line-up will feature performances across two stages, headlined by South African artists Caiiro and Mawhoo, German DJ Rammor, and several Zambian acts such as El Mukuka, T-Low, Natasha Chansa, James Sakala, Sebastian Dutch, Naimah, Theresa Ng’ambi, Lady Kay, Ms Selfie and Kreative Nativez.
Beyond the music, the festival will include art installations, local food vendors, fire pit gatherings and interactive games. Yoga instructor Samba from the Body Heart Mind Collective will lead wellness sessions aimed at promoting mindfulness and creative well-being.
Tickets are available through Ticket Host and the Nakabeya Mountain Festival official website.
