Born Ntsako Mhlanga in Daveyton, East Rand, Jst Sako has steadily built a reputation for his emotive Afro-Fusion sound. The singer-songwriter’s inclusion in the Up Next series coincides with the release of his debut album TUKA, a 14-track project that explores themes of love, heartbreak, renewal, and self-discovery.
Reflecting on the recognition, Sako said being selected by Apple Music was “humbling” and a testament to the collective effort behind his career. “It took a village, every soul who believed in and walked with me. To be recognised by Apple Music only amplifies that truth,” he said.
Written over several years, TUKA captures Sako’s personal and artistic evolution. The album features collaborations with a range of artists including Manu WorldStar, Gemma Griffiths, Lolli Native, ReasonHD, KLY, and Loki. “I poured my soul into creating this first album, every beat, every word, crafted for the people,” he told Apple Music.
As part of his selection, Jst Sako will appear on Apple Music’s Up Next playlist, which showcases emerging talent from around the world. The playlist spans multiple genres and is curated by Apple Music editors to introduce promising new artists to wider audiences.
Since its launch, Up Next has spotlighted a diverse list of international acts who went on to achieve global success, including Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Khalid, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema.
