Open call: Goethe-Institut Kenya cultural program officer
Goethe-Institut Kenya is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the position of a cultural program officer.
Job description
- Permanent position.
- 40 hours per week.
- Remuneration according to local scheme.
- Start date: 10 June 2024.
As a program officer, the main responsibilities will include:
- Conceptualising, planning, and implementation of cultural programmes.
- Project-related budget monitoring and accounting.
- Project-related reporting and evaluation.
- Drafting contracts for project partners and service providers.
- Project-related public relations work and compilation of information for press and stakeholders.
- Technical and organisational preparation for events.
- Recruitment and training of interns.
The program officer will participate in:
- Maintaining contact with partners.
- Supporting artists and partners in developing and implementing projects.
- Communication with head office and regional institutes.
- Managing the inventorying and loaning of technical equipment under the care of the department.
- Overseeing the film archive, including making recommendations to other institutes.
Requirements
- University degree in the humanities or arts or cultural studies or comparable qualifications.
- Experience in cultural management (at least 24 months).
- Experience in writing project proposals, project management and reporting.
- Sound knowledge of the Kenyan and German cultural scene.
- Sound knowledge online marketing and social media communication.
- Confident command of all common office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Zoom, Skype4Business).
- German language skills at a level of at least B2 (added advantage).
- English language skills at a language level of C2 or mother tongue speaker.
- Coordination and organisational skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse and multicultural team.
- Flexibility with regard to work organisation, willingness to work evenings and weekends.
