Comprised of brothers Kingsley Okorie and Benjamin James, The Cavemen. are widely celebrated for their signature “highlife fusion” sound, a blend of traditional highlife with Afrobeat, soul, and jazz.
‘Dancing Shoes’, which is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms, continues this evolution, offering a joyful sonic experience rich in African polyrhythms, heartfelt lyricism, and a dynamic blend of Igbo and English. Benjamin’s distinctive falsetto guides the track with playful strength, while the instrumentation honours the spirit of their cultural roots.
“The song ‘Dancing Shoes’ means a lot to us,” the duo said. “We want people to let go of all their worries. All we can do is our best and leave it to God. We want you to just put on your dancing shoes and dance, feel alive and free. Leave your worries and burdens at home.”
With over 46 million streams to date, The Cavemen. continue to make their mark not just in Nigeria, but across the global music scene. Heavily influenced by Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti, they are key figures in the highlife renaissance, connecting a new generation with the sound of their heritage.
Their growing acclaim has led to high-profile collaborations with major artists such as Wizkid, Show Dem Camp, Asa, CKay, Kizz Daniel, Basketmouth, Lady Donli, and Flavour. Notably, they featured on Davido’s GRAMMY-nominated album Timeless, including the track ‘Na Money’ with Angelique Kidjo, currently earning them a nomination for Music Video of the Year at the 2025 Headies Awards.
The duo’s previous bundle release, Medicine and Opportunity, further showcased their ability to blend jazz-influenced instrumentation with soul-infused vocals. Their recent touring success includes performances at European festivals, a solo US tour in 2024, and sharing the stage with Grammy-winning PJ Morton. They also opened for Wizkid at a sold-out Tottenham Stadium and performed at New York’s iconic Central Park SummerStage.
Most recently, The Cavemen. headlined alongside Amaarae and Fireboy DML at Togetherness, a musical celebration curated by fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The event exemplified the intersection of fashion, music, and art, underscoring the duo’s growing influence in the global creative scene.
