Kenya: Timothy Kitui releases coronavirus song
Kenyan gospel artists Timothy Kitui has released a song in support of the government's efforts against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The song, titled 'Mulembe One Metre Away', which translates to 'greet them at one metre away', is an original composition featuring fellow musician Ben Mukabwa.
"Our fortified resolve can't fall to corona, not with God on our side. We hope the message gets across #newsongalert #unitedagainstcorona," Kitui wrote on Facebook.
The duo says the coronavirus epidemic should be fought collectively, with the necessary precautions taken as highlighted by the government and medical community.
The song tells listeners to wash their hands frequently with soap and use sanitiser, exercise the one-meter distance rule when around people, and avoid crowded places. They also list some of the COVID-19 symptoms.
In the video, Kiyui is seen playing the traditional litungu instrument while Mukabwa plays the acoustic guitar.
There are currently 15 confirmed cases in Kenya. Rwanda is leading in the East African region with 17.
