Ghana: KJ Spio features Harmonize and Konshens on new single Messi
Ghanaian music sensation KJ Spio has joined forces with Tanzanian bongo flava musician Harmonize and Jamaican dancehall artist Konshens to release a single titled ‘Messi’.
With its infectious beats and uplifting lyrics, the track celebrates staying focused on one’s path and steering clear of unnecessary drama.
Produced by Grammy-winning Jamaican producer IzyBeats, renowned for collaborations with Jorja Smith, Rema, Koffee, and Alicia Keys, ‘Messi’ is a seamless fusion of Afrobeats, dancehall, and amapiano. The track opens with a captivating percussive rhythm that sets the tone for the global superstars to deliver smooth, melodious vocals. Konshens and Harmonize glide effortlessly over the genre-defying beat, creating a wheel-up-worthy anthem that’s sure to spark dance floors worldwide.
The ‘Messi’ music video, directed by Lux London (known for his work with Tems, Central Cee, and Ice Spice), perfectly complements the song’s groovy energy. Shot in Toronto, the video follows KJ Spio, Harmonize, and Konshens through a high-energy poker game that evolves into a spirited house party, capturing the chemistry between the artists.
Speaking about the collaboration, KJ Spio revealed, “I am a big fan of Konshens, and having worked with Harmonize before, I knew we could create something magical together. This song pays homage to the biggest sounds in Black music today, Afrobeats, dancehall, and amapiano, and brings them together in a way that’s fun and energising.”
Harmonize shared his excitement for the project: “This track is a perfect blend of the trending music genres right now. Music is universal; it transcends genres, borders, and continents. We had incredible synergy while working on this, and it was such a seamless process. Fans can expect more music vibes from me, including an exciting joint project coming soon.”
Konshens added, “Collaborating with Harmonize and KJ Spio was effortless. We had a great time writing this cheeky tune and shooting the video. I love the sounds coming out of the African continent, and this collaboration truly reflects that. I hope fans enjoy the song as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
With ‘Messi’, KJ Spio continues to solidify his reputation as a rising force in the global music scene. The track follows a string of high-profile collaborations with the likes of Sarkodie, Oxlade, Ambré, Harmonize, and Libianca. His work has earned recognition from major platforms such as COLORS, Ones To Watch, and Ministry of Sound.
Looking ahead, KJ Spio aims to collaborate with emerging African talents like Lasmid, Vasa, and Kojo Blak. “I’m all about creating music that brings people joy, whether they’re at a party or enjoying an intimate moment,” he said.
As ‘Messi’ bridges cultural and musical boundaries, the track reaffirms KJ Spio’s commitment to pushing the limits of cross-genre collaborations while shining a spotlight on African and Black music’s global influence.
