Call for entries: Midemlab 2021

Now in its 14th edition, the competition features some of the most promising international music tech startups that offer innovative solutions for the music industry to build new consumer experiences.

This year, the contest will spotlight the most innovative solutions available for bands, producers, promoters, fans and venues, with a focus on live streaming and VR solutions.

A total of 20 finalists will be selected by selecting partners Music Ally, The Lynk and Panache Ventures. The winners will receive free mentoring, legal, PR and marketing advice, individual pitch to VC firms, and one free registration to Midem 2022, among other prizes.

Eligibility

Interested applicants must be:

• Available to attend Midem if they are selected to pitch.
• A new company (less than five years old).
• Business-ready, already launched or in the beta stage.
• Independent and not affiliated to a group.
• Genuinely original and innovative, with international viability.

Candidates can apply in the following categories:

• Music creation and education.
• Music distribution and discovery.
• Music marketing and data/analytics.
• Live music experiences.

“With social media taking over our social life, people yearn for real life experiences,” Beringea investment director Eyal Malinger said. “As investors, we look for companies capitalising on this rise of the experience economy. Live music’s growing popularity becomes clear in the light of these trends.”

About 300 music startups from 47 countries have taken part in the competition, and previous winners include SoundCloud, Kickstarter, The Echo Nest, Songkick and Soundcharts, among others.
