Call for applications: CMO operations manager in Kenya
The Music Publishers Association of Kenya (MPAKE) is accepting applications for the operations manager position at the collective management organisation (CMO).
MPAKE is licensed by the Kenya Copyright Board(KECOBO) under the Copyright Act to represent authors, composers, publishers and arrangers of musical works. The organisation collects licence fees from users of musical works and distributes royalties to the respective rights holders.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate shall:
- Be responsible for maximising revenue collections from users of musical works on behalf of MPAKE members.
- Be responsible for all aspects of operations as they relate to collection in line with statutory requirements.
- Be responsible and accountable to provide leadership, expand financial resources, increase membership and build internal and external relationships.
- Be tasked with communicating the business priorities to the government, media, rights holders and other stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain effective ongoing relationships with board members and members.
Requirements
- A master's degree from a recognised university in business administration, management or law.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience holding a similar senior management position.
- Knowledge of intellectual property (IP) law.
- Experience in strategic planning, execution, project management and innovation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills.
- Relevant experience with initiating and leading improvement programmes.
- Demonstrate an ability to develop and build respect from staff and colleagues.
- Demonstrate commitment to the principles and practice of ethical conduct.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and professional accounting software.
- Possess leadership skills, including the ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts.
- Knowledge of the music industry landscape, knowledgeable in current and possible future practises and trends locally, regionally and internationally, and other information affecting CMOs.
