In a first for the awards, the celebration will be split across two evenings. The first night will spotlight the Vanguard Awards, which recognise the often-unsung heroes of the music industry, including artist managers, hairstylists, producers, and other technical professionals whose work is vital to the success of South Africa’s music scene.
The second night will focus on the main Basadi in Music Awards, honouring the country’s top female artists for their talent, artistry, and significant contributions to the industry.
“The growth of the Basadi in Music Awards is a testament to the increasing recognition of women’s influence in both the creative and technical fields,” BIMAs founder and CEO Hloni Modise Matau said. “Expanding to two nights allows us to shine an even brighter light on those working tirelessly behind the scenes, while still maintaining the grand celebration of musical excellence.”
Joburg Theatre CEO Xolisa Nduneni said: “The arts industry thrives when we recognise and uplift the women who make it all possible. Basadi in Music Awards continues to be a beacon of empowerment, and this two-night celebration is a testament to the progress we are making in ensuring inclusivity and recognition for all.”
Nominees for the 2025 edition will be revealed on 19 June across multiple platforms, with early bird tickets are now available via Webtickets.
