Bio
Sanii Makhalima (born Lumgisani Makhalima) developed interest in music when he was nine. He is also songwriter and producer. His career as a musician started in 1999. He is one of the founders of urban grooves music. He became known in the music circles following the release of his album ‘Usadaro’. The album carried the songs ‘Ndofefeterwa’ and ‘Hakuna Mumwe’. The track was well-received and did well on local charts. The two songs were accompanied by video.
He has to date released six albums namely: ‘Usadaro’, ‘Ndofefeterwa’, ‘Acoustic’, ‘The Urban Renewal (2011), ‘Mr. Makhalima & Friends’ and lastly ‘Evolution’ (2013). In May 2015, they were reports that he was set to release a 24 track album called ‘The Ark’.
As a producer, he has managed to produce over 1000 songs for other artists. He had been nominated for numerous awards such as ZIMA Awards, NAMA Awards and Golden Scissors Awards. Besides music, he holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Human Resource Management with the University of Cape Town. He is currently studying towards a Masters in Business Administration.
