Kauzeni Lyamba

Kauzeni is a multi-talented musician from Tanzania. He is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, music educator, producer and event organiser.

On stage Kauzeni is a dynamic performer with extensive experience in cross-cultural collaborations. Playing flute, saxophone, percussion and vocals.

Kauzeni graduated from the Bagamoyo Collage of Arts (TASUBA) in 2009 before launching his career as a performer, band leader, educator and cultural organiser. He has collaborated with musicians and dancers across the USA, Europe, Asia and worked for many years as a teacher, organiser and performer of the Umoja Cultural Flying Carpets. He participated in the Music Action Lab 2 in San Francisco California during 2017 for a leadership training program for musicians around the world. Aimed at enhancing knowledge, skills and expertise in music for global social change and social justice.

Among his many accolades as a performer Kauzeni was awarded a European tour as the Best Unique artist of the year 2010 by Music Crossroads International and has represented Tanzania on several international stages including the world’s largest conference on water; Expo Zaragoza in Spain and the Forde Folk Music Festival in Norway.

Currently Kauzeni performs with his own band in a variety of festivals and concerts in Tanzania and across Eastern and Southern Africa. He also appears regularly as a session musician with many Tanzanian and International bands.

Kauzeni describes his music genre as Swahili Fusion Music and sites his main influences as Tatu Nane (Tanzania), Youssou N’Dour (Senegal) and Moreira Chonguica (Mozambique).
