Hope Academy Rwanda

Bio

Hope Academy Rwanda, formerly known as Hope Kids-Junior Academies and the Rwandan-Turkish International School (RTIS) is a non-profit, Cambridge International school in Kigali, Rwanda. Running from pre-school through to grade 12, the Primary school began in September 2012, with the Secondary campus opening in the fall of 2013.

This academy is the first in Rwanda to offer programmes for Cambridge International Examinations, not only in Primary and Secondary but also the Cambridge ICT Starters Program for pre-primary students. The school emphasizes multicultural understanding by teaching the main subjects in English, offering Kinyarwanda and Turkish, as well as instructing remedial courses, like Art, Music, and Physical Education, in French. In continuation with the multilingual focus, the Academy also offers certification through the DELF program as an added plus, in addition to the specified French language and remedial classes, which are taught in French. In the 2013-2014 academic year, RTIS has expanded its academic reach by offering grades 7, 8 and 9 openings at its Junior Academy.

In the 2014-2015 academic year, grades 10-12 will be offered at their Secondary specializing in IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) for 9 subjects: English, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, ICT and French.

The school works in partnership with RECA Ltd. as a means of expanding cooperation and business between Rwanda and Turkey. Their school year runs on the international Western academic calendar from September to June, with summer camp being offered in the month of July.
