Donii Major
Bio
Donii Major (Donald Leigh), was born in Freetown, the capital city of the West African country, Sierra Leone. From the cradle music was always a part of my everyday life, from church worship to neighborhood bars and dance parlors.
In 2006 I started playing the keyboard in church, where I would go on to meet many other musicians that would be the start of something I can now call a career. I joined my first band(Touch Lives) in 2011, where I played bass for close to three years. During the Ebola Pandemic of 2015 in Sierra Leone, I met a group of boys that became my friends and together we formed a band called Graceville united. I served as the music director and a vocalist in this band and got my first set of fans from small performances the band did in our town.
In 2018, I attempted to record and release my first Single, "Freetown City" an ode to my home and city Freetown.
This song gave me a farther reach in and established my identity as a musician and artist. Since then I have performed on various stages in Sierra Leone and Other African countries like Morocco.
