Daddy Lumba
Bio
He was born Charles Kwadwo Fosuh on 29 September 1964 and died on 26 July 2025. He began his career in the late 1980s as part of the duo Lumba Brothers, alongside Nana Acheampong. Their first major hit was ‘Yeeye Aka Akwantuo Mu’.
In the early 1990s, he went on to establish a highly successful solo career, releasing a steady run of hit albums, often on an annual basis, until 2000. Notable releases included ‘Bi Ate Meso Bo’, ‘Sika Asem’, ‘Ohia Asem’, ‘Playboy’, ‘Sesee Wo Se’, ‘Odo Foforo’, ‘Biribi Gyegye Wo’, ‘Back For Good’, among many others.
His career was marked by remarkable versatility, as he worked across a wide range of genres, including highlife, hiplife and gospel. He was also regarded as one of Ghana’s most self-sufficient artistes, having built his own music and media production operation. A multiple award winner, he received numerous accolades, including honours at the Ghana Music Awards. He remained active in recording and live performance throughout his career.
