Artchild Afriika who’s real name is Welile Gumede is a singer songwriter, creative director, choreographer & DJ
She is an emerging independent female artist from Durban, South Africa in a township called KwaMashu.
She has obtained her honours degree in industrial psychology from the university of KwaZulu-Natal.

She has won 3 awards:
Best music & entertainment in KZN (her province) by Gagasi FM Shero Awards in 2019.
Influential woman of the year 2023 by Big M productions & finally, Performing Artist of the year at the Zikomo Africa Awards 2024.
Artchild Afriika is an independent female artist and has been known for her electric performances, her creative direction & choreography on numerous music videos including for artists such as Major Lazer, Rudimental, DJ Lag, Moonchild Sanelly & MTV Base & Many more
Artchild Afriika performs with dancers and sometimes a live band. She also DJs and plays Afrohouse & Gqom. She also dances during her sets and well as sings & performs her own original music 

Artchild Afriika is an independent female artist, choreographer and DJ and is also known for her behind the scenes work including creative direction, production, styling & choreography on numerous music videos and productions locally, internationally & globally.
Such include production work, choreography and creative direction for projects of artists, brands and companies such as
- Major Lazer (USA)
- Rudimental (UK),
- DJ Lag, Moonchild Sanelly (SA) - MTV Base & Many more.
She has also produced and has been featured on several documentaries that highlight South African culture and movements in platforms such as
- MTV Base Gqom Nation Season 1 & 2 (where she was the head choreographer & talent specialist) - DJ Maphorisas Gqom wave documentary.
- Stimorol Flow Lab
- Tunecore Africa (Where she was selected as the only female ambassador continentally)
