Thando Mthembu is a dynamic and multifaceted cultural practitioner with a diverse portfolio that showcases her exceptional skills in artist management, social media management, event coordination, and administrative tasks. With a professional journey that spans several years, Thando has established herself as a reputable and dedicated expert in the industry.
Her career began as the co-founder of Food4Soul, a charity event in Kempton Park that utilized performance art to raise funds for local charities. During her five-year tenure, she developed a comprehensive database of artists, which ultimately led to her providing administrative support to a range of talented individuals. Notably, Thando has had the privilege of working with internationally acclaimed artists, including Zoe Molelekwa, Tasha Stones, Follow me follow you, and Angelyric.
In 2018, Thando was an integral part of the promotions team for Afropunk Africa and served as the artist liaison for the semi-finalists in the Afropunk battle of the bands. Her expertise in tour management was also evident in 2019 when she managed PG13's KZN tour, which culminated in a performance at the Smoking Dragon Festival in Drakensburg. Additionally, Thando handled administrative tasks during the recording of PG13's debut EP, Hekaya, and later tour-managed the band in Bloemfontein after they received the ConcertSA Mobility Fund award.
Thando's meticulous attention to detail has earned her stage management opportunities at various live music venues in Tembisa. Her latest endeavor involves curating a tour for SAMA Award-winning bassist Edgar Muzah, which included successful applications and reporting for the ConcertSA Mobility Fund.
