St Winston
Bio
St Winston is a South African DJ, producer, and radio host whose work sits at the intersection of jazz heritage, contemporary sound, and sonic healing. Hailing from the East Rand of Johannesburg, he is known for crafting deeply immersive listening experiences that blur the lines between DJ sets, musical storytelling, and cultural curation.
Rooted in an early exposure to classical symphonies, folk, jazz, blues, and soul, St Winston’s musical language is expansive and intentional. His selections move fluidly between timeless recordings and forward-thinking compositions, uncovering hidden gems while honoring the lineage of musical expression. Rather than chasing trends, he curates soundscapes designed to invite reflection, connection, and upliftment.
Between 2021 and 2024, St Winston gained widespread recognition through Tune Therapy—a series of marathon listening sessions held in Marshalltown, Johannesburg, where he performed extended 4–8 hour sets every Saturday. These sessions became known as communal spaces for healing and introspection through sound, solidifying his reputation as a curator rather than a conventional DJ.
Alongside his live work, St Winston is a producer, infusing his original compositions with the same depth, warmth, and narrative quality that define his DJ sets. His creative journey reflects a continuous evolution—bridging archival influences with contemporary sensibilities. Through sound, he creates spaces that transcend genre and geography—inviting audiences into moments of presence, memory, and collective experience.
