Sinmi Jay is a Lagos-based musician, songwriter, and creative entrepreneur whose artistry bridges tradition and innovation. Born into a family where music was a way of life, he grew up immersed in the timeless sounds of Nigerian legends Ebenezer Obey, Sunny Ade, Orlando Owoh, and Fela Kuti, while also drawing inspiration from international icons including Michael Jackson. Contemporary Nigerian voices such as Tuface, Sound Sultan, Asa, and Style Plus further shaped his self-taught musical journey.

In 2012, Sinmi Jay introduced his first single, Ebo—a collaboration with Olamide—that marked the beginning of a career rooted in passion, cultural pride, and a deep desire to uplift others through music. For him, fulfillment comes from entering a space and sharing joy, light, and meaning through sound.

In 2017, he founded Gbadunsquad, a Lagos-based band that has since become a powerful voice in modern African music. Blending Afrobeat, Juju, Highlife, Indie Pop, and electronic soundscapes, the group crafts music that is both socially conscious and soul-stirring. Their songs have been described as when one is testing the depth of the river that links the past and the future of healing sound with your whole body —an exploration of heritage and modernity, rooted in storytelling and rhythm.
