Selflez B
Bio
Selflez B (born Masiteng Sempane on 28 November 2004) is an Afro-Fusion artist from South Africa whose music is rooted in faith, hope, and love. Through his unique sound and inspiring lyrics, he aims to motivate those who have lost hope, blending traditional African influences with modern Afro-soul and hip-hop rhythms.
Born and raised in Patrysrand, a farm near Paul Roux village in the Eastern Free State, Selflez B began his musical journey in 2017 at the age of 12. Influenced by artists such as Lampi Le Lehlohonolo, Mosia Le Hatlane, Kommanda Obbs, and Sankomota, he started recording and performing at school, laying the foundation for his powerful and heartfelt artistry.
In 2022, he released one of his most personal love songs, “Tsholofelo”, but due to financial and personal challenges, he was unable to promote it. Despite the setbacks, he remained determined and returned stronger in 2023 with “Nako Yaka”, a song of hope and perseverance. Both tracks earned him nominations at the Mzansi Arts and Media Awards 2023 in the Best Upcoming Artist and Best Hip Hop Artist categories — where he proudly won Best Hip Hop Artist.
Following that success, Selflez B dropped his game-changing single “Ka Mahetla”, which earned him a nomination at the Central Music Awards 2024, where he won Best Afro-pop/Afro Soul Artist of the Year. The song climbed into the Top 30 charts on national radio station Lesedi FM, remaining there for 15 weeks and peaking at position 9. Shortly after, he received another major recognition — a nomination for Best Upcoming Artist at the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA), earning him an official certificate.
Later that year, Selflez B met Sasa, a talented singer from Welkom, and immediately recognized her potential. He decided to mentor and collaborate with her, hosting a music camp at his home in the farms near Paul Roux, where they created new music together and forged a powerful musical partnership.
In 2025, while completing his final year of high school, Selflez B released “Tseleng”, a victory anthem that tells a story of resilience and determination against all odds. The song speaks for those who’ve faced countless failures yet continue to believe in their dreams. Drawing from Sesotho wisdom — “moja pele o tshwana hantle le moja morao” and “di kgomo ha dina motloha pele” — he reminds listeners that being behind now doesn’t mean being behind forever. With lines like “Ke laolwa ke moya” (“I am led by the spirit of the ancestors”), Selflez B delivers a message of ancestral guidance and unstoppable faith.
On 30 October 2025, Selflez B and Sasa reunited for their Afrobeat collaboration “Ntho Tse Ntle” — meaning “Beautiful Things”. The song is a vibrant anthem about ambition, faith, and the pursuit of a better life. Sasa opens with a heartfelt prayer asking for guidance and strength, while Selflez B responds with confidence, declaring his destiny as a winner and rising star. The single marks Selflez B’s first venture into the Afrobeat sound —...
